HOW IT WORKS

Nine game season
June 1 - July 30
Games are Monday - Thursday

5:30 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm

Buddies must be 12 years of age or older to volunteer.
Buddies should be able to attend ALL ASSIGNED games.
Teams play one night each week on the same night.
Family members serving as buddies must be registered as volunteers.
Teams rotate through all game times throughout the season.
If you are volunteering with a group, select the name from the drop down menu under Volunteer Group Name. If yours is not listed, please email us to register.
To volunteer the same night as a family member, friend or coach, enter this information under Are there other volunteers you would like to be paired with?

NOTE We do our best to honor requests but may be unable to accommodate multiple criteria such as player, day of week, other volunteers and specific team.

BUDDY

Buddies are on the field for the safety, protection and encouragement of Players, assisting as needed. Ranging from age twelve to senior citizen, our Buddies have been family members, teachers, relatives, local sports teams and groups.

BUDDY TRAINING VIDEO

Ensure the safety of players at all times, monitoring pitches and stepping in to protect players when needed.
Allow players the freedom to participate in their own way, respecting their individual needs and abilities.
Provide enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Wear the designated Buddy shirt and proper athletic shoes during each game.
Arrive at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Attend the entire 8-week season.
Participate in a mandatory pre-season orientation (1 hour) with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Demonstrate high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.

COach

Ensure the safety of players at all times, monitoring pitches and stepping in to protect players when needed.
Allow players the freedom to participate in their own way, respecting their individual needs and abilities.
Provide enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Wear the designated Buddy shirt and proper athletic shoes during each game.
Arrive at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Attend the entire 8-week season.
Participate in a mandatory pre-season orientation (1 hour) with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Demonstrate high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.
Enforces league rules, including requirement for wearing correct footwear and uniforms.
Pack up any team equipment if playing the last game of the day.
Contact Players with their team assignment.
Provide game schedule and where to find it online.
Provide information on upcoming events and schedule changes to the team.
Attend Coaches meetings as called by the league.
Provide copies of the team line-up to the game announcer before each game.
Designate responsibilities to the Assistant Coach to assure they they have an active role.
Give a short pep talk before each game

GAME SUPERVISOR

Allow players the freedom to participate in their own way, respecting their individual needs and abilities.
Provide enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Arrive at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Attend the entire 8-week season.
Participate in a mandatory pre-season one hour orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Demonstrate high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.
Oversees one night of games.
Verifies each Player and Volunteer has registered and signed a release.
Unlocks field entrance and inspects field.
Unloads game equipment from the shed and distributes to proper locations.
Verify Coaches are in attendance.
Provides team lineups to Game Announcer.
Attends to any Player requiring medical attention.
Returns game equipment to the shed.

ASSISTANT COACH

Ensure the safety of players at all times, monitoring pitches and stepping in to protect players when needed.
Allow players the freedom to participate in their own way, respecting their individual needs and abilities.
Provide enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Wear the designated Buddy shirt and proper athletic shoes during each game.
Arrive at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Attend the entire 8-week season.
Participate in a mandatory pre-season orientation (1 hour) with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Demonstrate high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.
Enforces league rules, including requirement for wearing correct footwear and uniforms.
Pack up any team equipment if playing the last game of the day.
Verify each Player has a Buddy.
Step in as Head Coach in their absence.
Keep batting order moving smoothly.
Mentor Buddies on their responsibilities.
Pick up the bat after each batter to keep the area safe.

UMPIRE

Provide enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Arrive at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Attend the entire 8-week season.
Participate in a mandatory pre-season one hour orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Demonstrate high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.
Oversee one night of games.
Verify each Player and Volunteer has registered and signed a release.
Unlock field entrance and inspects field.
Unload game equipment from the shed and distributes to proper locations.

Oversees one night of games.
Provides enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the game.
Arrives at the field 30 minutes before game time.
Demonstrates high morals and integrity both on and off the field, serving as a positive role model.
Announces each Player’s name in pre-game introductions and during game.
Makes announcements as requested by the League.
